Those who want to experiment with external light sources have a fairly wide range of LED-powered lights to choose from in their smartphone photography. If it’s a good old-fashioned xenon flash you’re after, things look a lot different. LIT Flash has been designed to meet your requirements, an innovative new handheld wireless xenon flash.
The same persons that brought the Lumu Light Meter to us will make a difference now by starting a LIT smartphone flash crowdfunding project at Kickstarter. The LIT is a 40W power xenon flash and a 2800 mAh Li-Ion battery built-in, which is good for 200 full-power flashes. It is capable of High-Speed Sync (HSS) and operates at smartphone shutter speeds from a few seconds to 1/10,000 of a second.
The flash communicates wirelessly through Bluetooth to your device, and a dedicated mobile app can control up to four flashes independently. By pressing a button on the flash, you can also activate the camera shutter remotely. A 1/4″ tripod thread with an accessory mount for the bayonet is provided. It supports newer iPhones and Android devices.
Marko Pirc, LIT Vision co-founder and Head of Product, says, “By adopting good mobile app design principles, we will empower people with no previous flash photography experience just as much as more proficient photographers.”
You should check out the LIT gallery on Flicker if you want to see what kind of results are possible with a LIT flash. Kickstarter pledges start at $179 and backers are scheduled to be shipped for January 2020. The expected retail MSRP is $329. Head over to Kickstarter for more information and detailed pricing.
