The launch of its first Augmented Reality feature has been announced by Shutterstock. The new tool ‘View in Room’ has been added to the company’s iOS App; before deciding whether to make the purchase, customers can use it to preview stock images as virtual artworks on their office or home walls.
According to the companies that power the tool using its own computer vision technology and the iOS ARKit framework, the ‘View in Room’ feature can be used in any of the millions of images available in Shutterstock. This feature came first as a hack for the future hackathon project for employees.
A growing number of its customers are buying images to be used as artwork or decor, according to Shutterstock. The Augmented Reality feature allows them to preview exactly what the final product would look like on their wall, eliminating the need for less accurate methods to visualize it.
